Paris Treasure Hunt

A picture of The Eiffel Tower in Paris in evening light.

The Eiffel Tower in Paris

Paris is a great city for a Treasure Hunt. We have several routes, but the main one takes people along The Seine between The Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. Transport links are very good so it’s quite viable to have a 24 hour stay with a Paris Treasure Hunt to see all the sights and a meal in one of the many wonderful restaurants in the evening.

Groups often use our Treasure Hunts as a sightseeing device. It’s a very effective way of seeing many of a city’s major tourist attractions in a fairly short period of time. We can finish at a restaurant, making it all the more convenient.

Happy New Year 2012

It’s already started well with trips to Dublin and Jersey in January. Last year we saw Lisbon and Paris as well as many trips to London and beautiful Edinburgh.

Travel is one of the great advantages of Treasure Hunting and we’re very excited about what 2012 has in store. Looking out of the window today somewhere warm would be nice!

How Long Should A Treasure Hunt Be?

Yesterday I took my pedometer with me. I covered 14,117 steps which equates to 5.75 miles, approximately 9 kilometers and, apparently, 355 additional calories to my standard daily burn. I always find the number of calories a sobering reminder not to eat that opportunistic Mars Bar!

As the event organiser I tend to cover more distance than the participants as I have to set it all up and visit all of the characters in their places. Most teams don’t cover the whole route and spend a lot of time planning and looking for clues.

My Paris Treasure Hunt covers just over 5 km and this is about right for an area where there is so much to see and do and also taking into account the varied fitness levels of average participants. The last thing you want is to make it feel like a chore. The other thing to take into account is that teams will want to stop a few times at pubs and bars on the route.

So, my advice for a three hour Treasure Hunt is 5 or 6 kilometres of walking.

City Treasure Hunts

City Treasure Hunts are a fantastic way to explore the sights of a city. Capital cities such as London and Paris are obvious choices and the key is not to choose major tourist attractions, for no-one wants to spend their event standing in queues. There are many fascinating off beat places to visit and the experienced writer will ensure that the treasure hunt is filled with these.

Cathedral cities in the UK make excellent locations for a treasure hunt, for example Oxford and Winchester.
